Direct flights to Moscow from European capitals take from 1.5 to 5 hours. Direct flights from New York, NY or Washington, DC last 9 hours, while Delhi is 6.5 hours away from Moscow. A direct flight from Beijing takes up to 8 hours.

In terms of flight safety and passenger comfort, four Moscow’s airports meet all major international standards. However, there are some drawbacks worth mentioning. At times, these are rather long luggage waiting time; long queues at passport and security checks; overpriced food and drinks; lack of smoking areas. Most bars and restaurants at the airports do not sell strong alcohol.

None of the airports has a direct connection to the metro system.

Aeroexpress trains run from Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo to the city centre from around 06.00 a.m. till around midnight. Transit time is 40-45 minutes. One-way ticket costs RUR 500. See Aeroexpress website for updated timetables, ticket options and booking.

From Zhkovsky airport, take bus 441 to Kotelniky metro station (line 7, purple.) One-way ticket costs RUR 92 (or RUR 72.60 if you pay by a bank card) plus RUR 34 per each piece of luggage. The bus runs every 20-30 minutes, transit time is 20-50 minutes. Taxi rates start from RUR 1000 to the nearest metro station.

Most buses and scheduled minivans from and to airports do not have luggage compartments. Schedules may change depending on traffic conditions. Tickets are usually sold on board for cash only.

Taxi fares vary depending on the distance and traffic conditions but should not exceed RUR 2000 to any destination in the city from any airport.

Book a taxi at the booths located at the airports’ terminals or online. The most popular taxi online services in Moscow are Yandex Taxi and Gett. Mind that using Uber's website and some other similar applications in Moscow may require some knowledge of Russian. Deals with drivers who flock at the terminals pose risks of considerable overcharge.

Car rental companies’ offices are located in arrival zones.

Free pick-up and drop-off time at all Moscow’s airports is 15 minutes.

Check-in usually starts two hours before scheduled departure. Mind that security checks at terminals’ entrances may take some time.

See the airports’ websites for flight schedules and other information:
